Reading books is enjoyable for the entire family. Penguin Young Readers is giving away the children's book Patricia von Pleasantsquirrel by James Proimos. I'll be giving away an advanced reader copy of this book to three of my lucky readers.
The main character of this book is actually blogging over at The Pleasantsquirrel Post where you are sure to enjoy a laugh or two. Here's more information about this book directly from Penguin:
First things first, Patricia von Pleasantsquirrel is not a squirrel. She’s a girl—a princess, in fact, only she hasn’t found her princessdom. But that’s about to change. Inspired by a book she reads, Patricia sets off for a place where she can stay up till midnight, eat cake before dinner, and have not just a dog but a great white stallion. She finds it. And a whole lot more than she bargained for.
James Proimos pays cheeky homage to a classic picture book favorite in this disarming, laugh-out-loud funny tale of a prideful little girl, her royal goldfish, her airplane, and her cadre of hippos. Two levels of comedy and plenty of visual gags make this a great read for kids and parents alike.
Author of the Johnny Mutton series, James Proimos has also written screenplays for Nickelodeon and created several TV shows. In addition to their striking resemblance, James and Patricia von Pleasantsquirrel share a fondness for chocolate cake before dinner and staying up until midnight. James would like you to know that his favorite pants are shorts. His favorite animals are all of them. And his favorite book is the one you’re reading about right now. These days, he and his wife split their time between Los Angeles and their farm in Maryland, where there are no purple hippos (read the book!) but quite a number of horses.

I actually found a few Dick & Jane books at a 2nd hand kids shop, they were only $1 so I grabbed them. My 5 yr old LOVES them, they are her favorite books. Sometimes the old classics are the best.
I still love The Pokey Little Puppy.
Mr. Funny by Robert Hargreaves! My daughter now makes up her own stories where everyone is like Mr. Funny...for example, she saw a hippo in a magazine and said, "This is a hippopomus(that's how she says it). He lives in a teapot. He drives a shoe!" If you've never read Mr. Funny I'm sorry you have no idea what I'm talking about :)

Don't let the Pigeon drive the bus. Mo Willems is very clever!
Oh gosh. My three year old loves any book, especially ones that keep me from turning out the lights and making him go to sleep! :)
Lately, though, we've been reading Harold and the Purple Crayon a lot, which is nice, because it's one of *my* favorites.
My daughter got "Dora's Storytime Collection" for Easter, so we have been reading a lot of Dora stories lately. That's her favorite right now, but she also retains a fondness for "When Dinosaurs Came With Everything."
This would be awesome to win!
My little grandson loves books!!!
My daughter loves Mo Willems books too, but right now she's captivated by a Bert & Ernie book I had when I was a kid! Love that my mom saved it!
My 9 mos. old loves to be read to. She doesn't really have a favorite yet, but anything with colorful pages she loves.
My daughter's favorite book is " Purplelicious".I do like to read it with her :)
My 11-month-old son likes Safari Friends Guess Who? It's a lift-the-flap/pop-up from Reader's Digest but it mysteriously has no author listed anywhere...
My son loves the "cookie book" It is a sesame street book called Cookie Kisses. We read it 7-8 times a day...still.
Any Sandra Boynton books!
